For the third year in a row, the Emo Walleye Classic is proud to announce the return of the “Emo Walleyedol,” with a new, streamlined format, and a new way for the crowd to participate. The Emo Walleyedol is a vocal competition for local performers aged 16 and older, taking place during the Emo Walleye Classic fishing tournament. Fifteen entrants will compete for a $400 top prize, with the winner chosen by judges at the weigh-ins on Saturday, May 26.

The Emo Walleyedol will take place in two parts, on Friday, May 25 and Saturday, May 26. Friday’s competition will have all fifteen of the competitors perform, and judges selecting the three finalists, who will then compete for the first, second and third places on Saturday night. New for this year, the audience on Saturday night will be able to choose a “Crowd Favourite” winner, who will receive a prize of $100, from the three finalists. Prizes will be awarded to each of the three finalists, $400, $200, and $100.

The entry fee for competitors is $20, and will include a special-edition “Emo Walleyedol” t-shirt. Entrants will be expected to supply their own music -- though a song list will be available if required -- and song selection must be approved by the organizers. Entrants can sign up at the Village Variety on Highway 11/17 in Emo. Entrants must currently reside in the Borderland area. For more information, please contact Laurel Mose at 482-1247.
